    POSITION DESCRIPTION
    Title :

    Project Manager – Engineering & Construction

    Salary Range:

    $81,000 - $101,000

    Purpose

    :


    This position will be responsible for all facets of development projects for the Metro Transit Authority (MTA) and the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) most of which will be transit or facilities related.

    This person will be integrally involved in transit, rail, and facility projects from conception through completion and will work with all departments within Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA)/Regional Transit Authority (RTA).

    He/she will assist with conceptual project planning, procurement, project management, engineering, construction management, utility coordination, and project closeout duties. He/she will also participate in planning studies. This person will need to perform equally well in a collaborative team environment as well as under independent conditions.

    He/she must be able to manage design teams, construction contractors, third party vendors, and collaborate with other Metro agencies and Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).

    This person must be able to develop and adhere to detailed construction schedules for regionally significant projects.

    Additionally, the preferred candidate should have experience with one or more of the following disciplines:

    transit, facilities construction, rail, traffic, roadway design, pedestrian facilities, and other transportation related projects with experience ranging potentially from early planning through construction completion.

    Successful candidate is expected to develop and manage project scope, schedule, and costs.

    The preferred candidate should be familiar with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and/or Federal Transit Administration (FTA) processes for major capital projects.

    Recommended Preparation for Employment

    :

    Candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in a related field, preferably engineering, construction management, or equivalent.

    Candidates with experience with transit-related projects, experience with facilities construction projects, licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE), and/or Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus but not a requirement.

    Communication skills, project and construction management experience, computer proficiency, and ability to handle several projects at once are all requirements for this position.

    Preferred 5+ years of transportation or construction industry experience.
