    The Head of Procurement for Direct Materials will serve as the category owner of the North American direct materials procurement team and work collaboratively with various business partners including R&D, Supply Chain/Operations, Quality, Finance and Marketing to create and implement strategic sourcing strategies, productivity, and innovation projects.

    The role will support and provide expertise in the areas of supplier negotiations and contract development, as well as being an effective people manager and coach for a team of two buyers. In addition to supporting functional initiatives, the role will lead Value Creation and ESG Projects, develop Category Plans and Resiliency Strategies, and implement and Supplier Relationship Management Program.

    Responsibilities:

    • Deep industry expertise and comprehension of packaging and ingredients, along with knowledge of the global supply base, cost drivers, indices, market dynamics, and cost management/reduction strategies.
    • Lead sourcing exercises (RFP), contract & price negotiations, and SRM program.
    • Ability to successfully collaborate with R&D and Supply Chain/Operations business partners to develop a robust Value Creation Program to lower costs & maintain best in class quality.
    • Implement KPI's and procurement tools/processes to continue Upfield's mission to become best-in-class in the Procurement space.
    • Develop supply resilience strategies through robust BCP's.
    • Drive urgency and accountability in a fast moving, results oriented business.
    • Partner, support, and drive NPD projects.
    • Identify external innovations and solutions that drive sales.
    • Develop supply resilience strategies through robust BCP's.
    • Implement KPI's and procurement tools/processes to continue Upfield's mission to become best-in-class in the procurement space.
    • Drive urgency and accountability in a fast moving, results oriented business.
    • Provide necessary inputs for supply agreements and monitor compliance to procurement processes and policies.

    Experience

    • Min of 10 years of direct materials procurement experience, preferably within the CPG or Pharmaceutical industry.
    • A proven manager with demonstrated ability to motivate and develop a team and have built a high-performance team through people, processes, and culture.
    • Pragmatic, roll-up their sleeves individual who gets work done with a strong sense of urgency in a collaborative way.
    • Ability to interface with all levels of management and functional leadership.
    • Outstanding negotiation and influence skills.
    • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen.
    • Advanced project management skills
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA/Graduate Degree in Business or Technical field (Preferred)
