- Provides housing placement assistance, ongoing rental assistance, and supportive services to chronically homeless individuals and families.
- Completes a Strengths-based Assessment related to maintaining permanent housing.
- Establishes individualized service plans targeting barriers to stable housing and implements goals in cooperation with clients and other service providers.
- Offers services including outreach, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, supportive case management, caregiver support, budgeting, skill building, and more.
- Responds effectively to emergency situations, maintains relationships with other service providers, and completes all required documentation.

The Housing Specialist at Onondaga's CoC collaborates with the Coordinated Entry to locate and house chronically homeless individuals and families. Providing high-quality supportive services, the specialist ensures that individuals and families maintain their permanent housing. They also offer financial assistance to facilitate independent housing for eligible recipients.
Housing Specialist Job Responsibilities:
Housing Specialist Qualifications:
HS Diploma or equivalent required with 1-3 years of related experience. Applicants with lived experience of homelessness are encouraged to apply. Must possess a valid New York State Driver's License and access to reliable transportation.
Housing Specialist Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, understanding of mental health, substance use, chronic medical conditions, and community resources, ability to work independently with flexibility, and demonstrate initiative and sound judgment.
Starting Rate: $19.00 per hour
