Job Overview:

Birch Hill Recruiting is looking for a highly skilled CNC Lathe Set-up Technician to join their client, a well-known family-owned, ISO-rated contract machine shop in Lake Zurich, IL. This role is perfect for a dedicated professional who values safety and excels in a quality-focused production setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate CNC machinery
Follow job routers, machine rates, and procedures
Utilize programs, manuals, prints, and work orders
Inspect parts for quality assurance
Perform maintenance and maintain cleanliness in the work area
Collaborate with team members
Write, adjust, and troubleshoot CNC programs
Coordinate machining tasks with engineering and operators
Optimize equipment capacity and monitor operations
Verify finished workpieces meet tolerances
Conduct equipment repairs and maintenance
Preserve and clean measuring tools
Adhere to quality, safety, and procedural standards
Support with assigned tasks

Qualifications:

3-5 years of CNC programming and operation experience
Knowledge of Okuma and Fanuc CNC controls
Basic machine skills (lathes, grinders, mills)
Ability to read blueprints, micrometers, gauges, and comparators
Team player with strong communication and organizational skills
Proactive, self-motivated, and quality-focused
Fluent in English; open to working extra hours if necessary
CAD/CAM knowledge is valuable although not mandatory
