    Description

    Job Summary

    The pharmacy technician assists with the compounding of sterile preparations in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures, assembly of patient supplies and equipment, and other tasks under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. The pharmacy technician assists with the maintenance and cleaning of the pharmacy work areas as described in the Apollo References Manual, and assists with quality control and performance improvement activities as directed by the franchised pharmacy manager. This position reports to the pharmacy manager.

    Qualifications

    • Required: High school diploma or equivalent
    • Required: At least 18 years of age
    • Required: Good interactive skills with employees, supervisors, referral sources, and consumers
    • Required: Registered with Alabama State Board of Pharmacy (if applicable in state(s) of service area)
    • Required: National pharmacy technician certification (CPhT)
    • Required: Proficiency utilizing computers and programs such as word, excel, outlook, and other applicable programs
    • Preferred: Completion of pharmacy technician training preferred
    • Preferred: Experience in laboratory, health care setting, compounding sterile products

    Physical Requirements Task

    May require lifting over 40 lb.

    May require standing for extended periods

    May require frequent use of computer keyboard

    May require use of latex products

    May require moderate to high amounts of driving (extended sitting)

    Examples

    Lifting cases of enteral formula and infusion solutions

    Standing at laminar air flow hood during product preparation

    Data entry, patient documentation, label preparations, etc.

    Clean and sterile gloves; latex injection ports Patient deliveries

    Essential Job Functions


    • Perform infusion related sterile compounding procedures in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies and procedures.
