- Facilitating communication and collaboration among unit staff and other departments.
- Ensuring continuity of patient care information between shifts, coordinates patient admitting, discharges, transfers, and other operational issues.
- Reviewing major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
- Provides ongoing clinical evaluations of nurses and other direct and indirect patient care provided on assigned unit/area.
- Counseling employees on performance issues, administers initial corrective actions, and collaborates in monitoring attendance issues.
- Can provide emotional, spiritual, and psychological support to patients.
- Has High-level management and leadership skills.
- Can schedule and manage tasks effectively.
- Has written and verbal communication skills.
- Has teamwork and motivational skills.
- Supervises assigned employees and coordinates unit/area clinical operations with other department disciplines.
- Makes appointments, acquires demographic data and outside medical records and schedules the lab procedure.
- Assists the physicians as needed in the outpatient department by providing education and follow-up.
- Serves as the Access Nurse for the complex ablation patient population: addressing patients/family/referring physician concerns pre- and post procedure.
- Works collaboratively with the Electrophysiology Section fellows in tracking data on complex ablation procedures as directed by the Medical Director of the Electrophysiology Lab.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Current state licensure as an Registered Nurse (RN).
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Current demonstrated clinical competence.
- Minimum four years recent nursing experience.
- Ability to recognize and evaluate abnormalities of EKG's, chest x-rays, echocardiograms and laboratory values.
- Experienced in completing and documenting physical assessments and histories.
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting of patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination.
- Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working with some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
