    HTI is seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Manager for a brand-new multi-metal recycling startup in Augusta, GA. Aurubis is the leading provider of non-ferrous metals and one of the largest copper recyclers worldwide. This German-based company is known for their commitment to environmental sustainability, diversity, and their employees.

    With plans to be fully operational in mid-2024, this facility is expected to become a major player in the North American supply chain and a significant employer in the greater Augusta area.

    What You Need:
    Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Energy Management, or related field
    At least 5 years of experience in environmental management, energy efficiency, or sustainability within a manufacturing environment
    Experience writing environmental and energy management systems, policies, and procedures

    including ISO 14001
    LEED accreditation/certification highly preferred

    • What Your Role Will Look Like:The Environmental and Energy Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to minimize the companys environmental impact, improve energy efficiency, and promote sustainable practices in accordance with corporate and local guidelines.


    Monitor and ensure full environmental compliance with federal, state, and local energy and environmental regulations, permits, policies, and standards in the United States.

    Implement, assess, and manage all processes, procedures and tools/systems that support the (corporate) environment and energy management strategy.

    These processes include management of emission and emission measurements, monitoring of wastewater, waste management, prevention of environmental incidents and hazards, monitoring energy and CO2 data.

    Conduct regular audits and inspections of the operating areas to identify areas of improvement and maintain compliance records.
    Set up standards and measurement to optimize processes and procedures, evaluate effectiveness and embed implementation in day-to-day jobs.

    In conjunction with corporate EHS requirements and corporate strategy, develop and implement strategies to mitigate environmental risks and minimize negative impacts while adhering to US and local environmental laws and following the ISO 14001/45001 structure.

    Develop, implement, and manage appropriate employees training program that is aligned with regulatory, corporate, and risk-based requirements, including the development and maintenance of a training matrix and plan.

    Organize frequent environmental management reviews (minimum bi-annually).
    Develop and implement energy management plans for Aurubis Richmond, including energy-saving initiatives and renewable energy integration.

    Close collaboration with Corporate Environmental Protection, Corporate Energy and Climate Affairs, and Corporate Sustainability, to identify sustainable solutions and implement best practices aligned with US sustainability goals and standards.

    Support and contribute to environmental and sustainability programs and initiatives driven by Corporate Environmental Protection and Corporate Sustainability to promote sustainable responsible practices within the organization.

    Stay updated on emerging sustainability trends and technologies in the US to drive continuous improvement.
    Deliver all legal required administration and reporting to the local authorities. Act as companys spokesperson in case of inspections by authorities.
