General Summary/Purpose
The Youth Financial Specialist will serve as the bank's expert in creating, developing, and nurturing lifelong financial relationships with young customers and their families. This position focuses on educating and guiding minors, teens, and young adults through key financial milestones, with particular emphasis on growing our customer base under age 24 through early savings programs like the Coin Club Account and comprehensive financial literacy education.
The specialist will assist with opening savings accounts for minors, discuss education savings plans such as 529 plans, and provide coaching on smart money management. Additionally, the Youth Financial Specialist will create and deliver community outreach programs, working closely with our Teen Ambassador team to support young people transitioning into financial independence.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Financial Education & Advocacy Percentage of time: 40%
• Assist parents and guardians with opening savings accounts for minors, including newborns.
• Educate families about available products and services, including 529 plans and other education-focused savings options.
• Provide guidance on how to maximize long-term savings for children.
• Offer personalized financial coaching for teens and their parents to establish healthy money habits early and provide follow-up coaching as needed.
• Support teens in opening first checking accounts and teach them how to use debit cards responsibly.
• Assist with evaluating long-term financial goals, including savings, investing, and major purchases like cars or housing.
• Track progress of young customers' financial goals
2. Community Outreach & Education Percentage of time: 40%
• Conduct a minimum of four community outreach events per month, including school partnerships, community workshops, and youth-focused financial education sessions.
• Partner with local schools, colleges, and community organizations to deliver financial education programs tailored to youth and young adults on topics such as:
· Early savings habits and the benefits of Coin Club Accounts
· College savings and financial independence
· Budgeting, credit building, and smart money management
• Collaborate closely with Teen Ambassadors to:
· Co-develop peer-to-peer financial education content
· Facilitate youth-led workshops and events
· Gather feedback on youth banking needs and preferences
· Expand reach within the under-24 demographic
• Track event attendance, participant demographics, and follow-up account openings from outreach activities.
3. Policy Development & Staff Training Percentage of time: 10%
• Work closely with the bank's marketing team to promote youth-focused banking programs.
• Collaborate with retail and digital banking teams to ensure seamless account opening and servicing experiences.
• Identify opportunities to enhance products and services to meet the needs of younger customers.
4. Community Involvement Percentage of time: 10%
• Attend community events on behalf of Paducah Bank, and active participation in community organizations that support the mission of the role.
Education, Training and Skills Required
