    Director of Business Development

    Stages Consultants is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and personable Business Development professional to help us continue our trajectory of growth. Stages is an internationally respected Theatre Planning and Acoustics consultancy engaged in the design of performing arts and cultural projects across the US and overseas. Founded in 2011, Stages has grown from two partners to a staff of ten full-time employees plus part-timers and subcontractors. We are small but mighty, with about 250 contracts completed in our 13+ years, and around $850 million in construction projects currently in design and construction with an impressive roster of architects.

    This role is full-time and on-site in our Highland Park, NJ office. You will work directly with the partners and staff and would serve as an integral part of our strategic planning team. You would be responsible for the development and implementation of our business development strategies to identify potential clients, develop and maintain relationships, and land new projects.

    Your job responsibilities would be:

    • Implement and manage the overall strategic business development (BD) plan in order to create new business opportunities, as well as cross-marketing initiatives. Work with the Marketing team to develop appropriate campaigns and collateral that enhances our brand and messaging.
    • CRM Management – Oversee Stages' CRM system (currently PipeDrive) to ensure all information for leads, projects, activities, timelines, and contacts is current and accurate.
    • Prepare various BD reports to measure, track, and analyze business development performance.
    • Social Media Management – Create a social media calendar, ensuring posts are released frequently across multiple platforms. Create a social media strategy that increases visibility and audience engagement.
    • Conduct client/project research. Make recommendations regarding business development opportunities to reach each industry. Prioritize leads according to target markets, locations, and budget sizes.
    • Review RFPs/RFQs. Determine if they are viable pursuits and prepare a Go/No-Go analysis.
    • Manage the proposal process from initial receipt through submission; creating an outline of critical information and dates. Collaborate with Marketing to compile this information in a timely manner.
    • Meet weekly and monthly to discuss current BD opportunities and future strategies.
    • Attend industry conferences, events and networking functions. Secure speaking engagements and exhibiting opportunities where applicable. Track and monitor budgets, contacts, and lead activity during and after conferences. Follow-up with potential leads and prepare reports that analyze effectiveness of conference participation.
    • Maintain industry knowledge through continued education in industry-specific information via webinars, online training, research, articles etc.

    You should bring:

    • Four or more years of marketing and business development experience in the AEC industry with an established industry network.
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or Communications is preferred. A passion for Theatre, Music, or a related field is also desirable.
    • Strong ability to be self-motivated and perform at a high level without daily support.
    • Persuasive selling skills sufficient to influence and create business and sales opportunities.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and goals.
    • CRM experience a plus
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) a plus.
