- Work in a 26-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a large academic teaching hospital
- Patient populations include general medicine and behavioral health, including DM, GI, respiratory, renal, wound care, observation patients, and dementia or developmental delays
- Patient ratios are 1:6 on the general medicine unit and 1:5 on the behavioral health unit
- Centralized telemetry monitoring is used
- Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell med dispensing utilized
- Required to float to other med/surg units as needed
- Shifts start at 1830; every other weekend is required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- 75% holiday coverage required

- Responsibilities include direct and indirect patient care for complex general medicine and behavioral health cases
- Support team includes CNAs, unit secretary, charge nurse, 24/7 respiratory therapy, phlebotomy, hospitalist, intensivist, and security
- Orientation includes facility and two-day departmental onboarding
- Royal blue scrubs required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in med/surg tele settings required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required for all units
- NIHSS certification required; CPI required for behavioral health unit (can be obtained onsite)
- Demonstrated experience reading telemetry strips and managing chest tubes, traches, IVs, PCA pumps, and medication gtts (e.g., Amiodarone, Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, Heparin)
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work under moderate to high stress
