    Role Description

    The Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach is a full-time on-site role located in Hartsville, SC. The coach will perform daily duties as assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach with a focus on enhancing performance and reducing injury risk for student-athletes across all sports at the university. In addition, the Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach will assist with facility upkeep and maintenance, equipment inventory, and other duties as assigned. Anticipated start date is 8/1/24. The position includes a 10-month $10,000.00 stipend; tuition will be waived. The position is for Fall 2024-Spring 2026.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports.
    • Assisting with the program implementation of all sports (when needed).
    • Provide instruction for safe and effective lifting techniques and equipment use.
    • Supervise day-to-day activities
    • Conduct periodic performance and strength testing
    • Communicate regularly with sport coaches and sports medicine personnel.
    • Work early mornings, late evenings and occasional weekends.

    Qualifications

    • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, sports science, or a related field.
    • Acceptance into the Coker University Graduate Program ).
    • Experience participating in a collegiate strength and conditioning program as an intern/volunteer coach.
    • Certification by the CSCCa or the NSCA (CSCS). (Certification must be already obtained not in the process of getting one. Applications without obtained certification will be disregarded)
    • Current CPR/AED certification.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work well in a team setting.
    • Ability to work early mornings, late evenings and occasional weekends.
    • Experience with computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google Suite
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
    • Prior experience with facility upkeep and maintenance, equipment inventory, and weight room supervision is preferred.
