    Job Description:

    Summary:

    The Recruitment Team is a creative, dedicated, and collaborative team within American University's Office of Human Resources. The team supports the recruitment of full-time staff, part-time staff, and student employees of the University. The Recruitment Team is seeking a Recruitment Assistant to join their team, comprised of the Managing Director of Talent Acquisition, Assistant Director of Recruiting, 3 Recruiters, Recruitment Specialist, and 1-2 Recruitment Assistants. This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in the Human Resources industry to experience and learn essential Human Resources (HR) professional skills while collaborating with a team of seasoned recruitment professionals.

    This position is available immediately for the summer 2024 season with the possibility of continuation into the Fall 2024 semester.

    Essential Functions:

    • Posting positions to the American University careers site. Coordinating job postings with Recruitment Team members and employees throughout AU's departments. Tracking and reporting on job postings and search progression as needed.
    • Providing front line customer service to internal and external customers via email, phone, and online ticketing system.
    • Managing 2 team email inboxes.
    • Supporting Recruiters with online research and recruitment-related projects.
    • Document review, auditing, and digital filing as needed.
    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
    • Anticipated approximately 15-20 hours/week pending availability; some flexibility.
    • Position hours are flexible within office hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday-Friday.
    Salary Range:
    • $17.00/hour.
    Required Education and Experience:
    • Incumbent must be an enrolled student at American University.
    • Prior experience providing administrative support/prior experience in office settings is strongly preferred.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Professional demeanor and demonstrated ability to work with a high level of discretion.
    • High level of attention to detail is critical.
    • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
    • Must be able to work well in a hybrid work environment and demonstrate reliability.
    Preferred Education and Experience:
    • Prior experience and/or an interest in the Human Resources industry is preferred.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (notably Outlook, Word, and Excel) is preferred.
