    About The Position

    Hours: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM ET, Monday to Friday

    Location: Remote

    The Insurance Verification Specialist I plays a vital role in the healthcare organization by verifying patient insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations for medical services, and ensuring accurate billing information. They work under the supervision of the Insurance Verification Supervisor, contributing to the efficient operation of the insurance verification process.

    Essential Functions

    • Verifies patient insurance coverage by reviewing insurance information and contacting insurance providers as needed.
    • Confirms eligibility and benefits for medical services according to payer requirements.
    • Documents insurance verification details accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
    • Assists in obtaining pre-authorizations for medical procedures and services as required by insurance companies.
    • Communicates with healthcare providers and insurance carriers to facilitate authorization processes.
    • Tracks and updates authorization status in the EHR system.
    • Verifies accuracy of patient billing information, including insurance coverage and demographic details.
    • Collaborates with billing and coding teams to resolve insurance-related billing issues and discrepancies.
    • Ensures timely and accurate submission of insurance claims.
    • Provides assistance and information to patients regarding their insurance coverage and benefits.
    • Addresses patient inquiries and concerns related to insurance verification and authorization processes.
    • Maintain professionalism and empathy while interacting with patients and insurance representatives.

    Requirements
    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
    • Previous experience in healthcare administration, medical billing, or insurance verification.
    • Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance policies, and billing procedures.
    • Computer skills, including experience with EHR systems and insurance verification software.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA, and industry best practices in insurance verification.

    Compensation Package

    Pay ranges may vary depending on location. The general pay range for this position is $ $18.00 per hour. Actual compensation depends on education, experience, and relevant skills. In addition, benefits include:

    Salary Description

    $17 - $18 / hour
