- Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
- Assessing the reliability of newly available electronic parts and packaging technologies for NASA flight/aeronautical projects through validations, assessments and characterizations, and the development of test methods and tools.
- Developing reliability engineering products such as Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) and Critical Items List (CIL) for aerospace projects.
- Working in software analysis programs used to develop reliability engineering products including but not limited to, Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA).
- Interacting with NASA and contractor management and/or engineers to provide interpretation of requirements, resolution of issues, and provide technical assistance regarding relevant aerospace and aeronautical projects.
- Independently reviewing and evaluating contractor and NASA produced Reliability engineering plans, studies, and reports, and recommending approval.
