    Description
    *Role: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist(EHS)

    *Location: 46500 Kato Road, Fremont, CA 94538**Duration: 12 Months (Temp to Perm)

    *Shift: 6am - 6pm Mon to Fri (40 hours a week)

    *Payrate: $30-40/hr.

    *Responsibilities
    • The EHS Specialist lll primary role is to protect employees' health in the workplace by developing and implementing health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to measure and reduce employees' exposure to physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic risks.
    • Lead select EHS programs in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
    • Provide technical expertise and be responsible for the implementation of various EHS programs, including chemical hygiene, biosafety, ergonomics, hazardous material management, management of change, contractor safety management, job hazard assessment and electrical safety.
    • Participate in incident investigations and ensure root cause countermeasures are identified to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents.
    • Participate in Gemba walks, find opportunities related to EH&S, and remediate safety concerns.
    • Facilitate and/or conduct industrial hygiene monitoring including air sampling and noise monitoring.
    • Conduct thorough inspections, investigations, and evaluations of site operations to assess environmental conditions, identify health hazards, and investigate hazards, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes.
    • Participate in job hazard assessments to ensure PPEs and health and safety risks are mitigated.
    • Prepare and share comprehensive reports detailing investigative findings, proposed corrective measures, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Serve as a key member of the emergency response team, incident command structure during site emergencies.
    • Use Lean tools (Kaizen, Gemba, RCCM, etc.) and principles to drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and cost savings efforts.
    • Collaborate with site functional teams and leadership to prioritize initiatives and allocate resources to achieve EHS objectives and site operational excellence.
    • Promote and reinforce a safety-first culture
    • Develop and deliver EHS training, mentoring, and coaching programs to develop site safety champions
    • Support Client's initiatives, campaigns, tools, and policies to ensure compliance and standard process implementation.
    • Update Emergency Action Plan (ERP) as needed, to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and corporate standards.
    • Hold trainings, conducting drills, and coordination with the local authorities.
    *Be a safety advocate.

    • Proactively look for opportunities to improve safety programs and educate and inspire employees to do the same.
    • Drive and implement changes as needed
    • Lead and participate in job safety and ergonomics analysis, make recommendations, and work with the appropriate department to implement changes.
    • Maintain EHS compliance calendar and records, including OSHA log, and generate reports as needed
    • Liaise with Travelers on Workers' compensation cases.
    • Work closely with medical providers on handling injury/illness cases
    • Work with project teams and ensure established safety standards are met while implementing new equipment and projects.
    • Drive a focus on safety by applying lean tools (5S, Gemba, Visual Management, root cause analysis, kaizen, etc.)
    *Qualifications
    • Minimum required education: a technical or bachelor's degree in industrial/occupational health & safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, science, or closely related field
    • 2 to 7 years in a safety or environmental health and safety (EHS) role.
    • Experience in implementing local, state and federal environmental, health and safety procedures and regulations.
    • A strong technical understanding of equipment and processes used in the life science industry and experience applying EHS regulations, standards and assessments in a manufacturing and research and development environment,
    • Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills and maintain professional discretion with confidential subject matter.
    • A strong desire to build relationships and promote a proactive safety-first culture across all levels of the organization
    • Self-directed individual with a validated ability to manage and influence across and up into the organization without direct reporting responsibility.
    • Strong communication, organization, presentation, and project management skills
    • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office and other applicable EHS systems.
