Cardiac and Cardiothoracic Imaging Fellowships in the Department of Radiology at UT Southwestern are one-year Texas Medical Board-approved programs that pride themselves on their commitment to offering excellent training in all aspects of cardiac and thoracic imaging Three cardiothoracic and one cardiac imaging fellowship positions are available each year. Applicants must pass all three steps of the USMLE and meet the requirements for a Texas Medical License. The positions are also open to IMG applicants with desire to complete ABR alternate pathway.
The goal of our fellowship programs is to prepare radiologists for successful careers in either academic or private practice settings, and to become independent subspecialty consultants who are leaders in the field.
The fellowship provides an excellent opportunity to learn from multiple subspecialty-trained radiologists and cardiologists, and gain expertise in advanced cardiac and thoracic imaging, including 4DCT, cardiac and chest MRI, MR angiography, multi-parametric mapping, HRCT, dual energy CT, and low dose CT. A critical highlight of the program is combined multidisciplinary conferences with cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, pulmonology, oncology, and pathology. We enjoy a friendly work environment and a collegial relationship with the clinicians of the other departments. The fellows completing the program become independent imagers and effective teachers.
Fellowship programs offer multiple research opportunities, and fellows are expected to participate in one or more research projects during their fellowship year. In accordance with this goal, fellows are provided with dedicated academic time and are encouraged to present their research findings at a national meeting and submit a manuscript detailing their work.
