- Performs extensive medical record review through the use of CDI software integrated with EMR
- Facilitates documentation improvement by participating in committee meetings
- Assist in coordination of clinical documentation improvement consistent with corporate compliance guidelines and appropriate financial reimbursement
- Provide education to providers, nurses and other CDI staff
- Working knowledge of federal and state regulations
- Ensures the integrity of the clinical documentation support medical necessity, diagnosis related groups (DRG) and quality of care
- Ability to work independently, prioritize and practice capable and effective problem identification and resolution
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with diverse disciplines
- Licensed RN with minimum 5 years inpatient clinical experience
- Extensive knowledge of complex disease processes
- Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP within three years of starting the role
- Epic experience preferred
- Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets and Microsoft office
- BS in Nursing preferred (or obtained within 5 years of hire)
