Role Purpose
The
Project Engineer
is an entry level position that assists a project team with planning and daily execution of the construction project. The Project Engineer will be a liaison with contractors, Superintendents. an Project Managers, and owners to ensure all parties are up to date.
Responsibilities
Learn to effectively manage project schedules, material procurement, subcontractors, resources, and project documentation. Assist in the management of Owner Change Orders, Subcontractor Change Orders, RFI's, and project closeout.
Perform line and grade work for building layout and control as required.
Develop a knowledge base by conducting frequent and regular site inspections to ensure installations meet, or exceed, approved submittals, shop drawings and quality of construction in support of overall project schedule.
Effectively manage, document, and keep record of project submittals (Product Data, Shop Drawings, Samples, Mock-ups) with subcontractors, design team and owners to ensure all materials (and associated installations) are approved in a timely manner to keep the project on schedule.
Before any project, meeting with the PM, Superintendent, and Estimator to discuss project setup, team structure, schedule, and project approach.
Manage and update all Contract Drawings and Specifications with Architect Supplemental Information to ensure field operations has the most current set of documents.
RequirementsBS Degree in Construction Management, Building Science, or other related field.
Intern or co-op experience with a commercial construction company.
Demonstrated understanding of building processes and systems.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Procore.
Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor styles to match the audience.
Physical/Work Requirements & Environment
Physical ability to walk site throughout the day, climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction.
Occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.Must be able to travel 10-15% of the time.
