    Description

    Responsibilities

    • Process and document samples.
    • Analysis of bulk and air for asbestos mineral fibers using TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy).
    • Quantify asbestos content and identify other sample components.
    • Document findings in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
    • Implement quality control procedures.
    • Adhere to lab safety protocols.
    • Follow EPA, NVLAP, ELAP, OSHA, and NIOSH standards for asbestos identification.
    • Prepare PCM slides, perform quality control checks, and conduct fiber counting according to NIOSH 7400 Method.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, related science, or PLM(Polarized Light Microscopy) Asbestos training course
    • Physics and/or Mineralogy background is advantageous.
    • 2 years of TEM or PCM experience in asbestos testing.
    • Familiarity with regulations such as NYELAP, Canadian standards, NVLAP, ASTM D 6480 and 5575, CARB 435, Cincinnati methods, EPA 600 interim and R-93/116, NIOSH 7400/7402/9002, and AHERA.
    • PCM analysts must hold a NIOSH 582 certificate.
    • Adhere to lab safety protocols, including proper use of fume hoods, personal protective equipment (PPE), and sample containment.
