    DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES

    As Locomotive Engineer
    • Operating the Locomotive to move loaded or empty rail cars.
    • Perform Daily Locomotive Inspections.
    • Observe Start up procedures for operation of Locomotive.
    • Observe Shut Down procedures for Locomotive.
    • Maintain visual / radio contact with crew members during any rail car movement.
    • Responsible for the safety of crew members.
    • Observe the Timetable.
    • Observe All Rules in the General Code of Rules (GCOR).
    • Observe All Rules under the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) per the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, Parts
    • Observe All Rules per the Association of American Railroads (AAR) Field and Office Manuals for Interchange.
    • Attend the United States Army Transportation School Course for Locomotive Engineers. (80 Hour Course).
    As Railroad Employee
    • Perform Car Repair Maintenance on Rail Cars. This could include the changing of Brakes Shoes, Air Hoses, Knuckle Pins, Vent Protectors, and various other parts or components of a Rail Car.
    • Perform Track Maintenance: Gauging Track, Replacing Cross Ties / Switch Ties, Replacing Pieces of Rail, Replacing Track Bolts/Washers/Nuts.
    • Perform simple Signal Light Maintenance of Railroad Signaled Crossings.
    • Use of Cutting Torch / Welder during various type of repairs.
    • Perform Housekeeping of the Shop, Tool Shed, Trucks and Locomotives.
    • Activate Signaled Crossings and Remove De-Rail (In Truck) when not Assigned as part of the Train Crew for the Day.
    • Run Crossings (In Truck) when not Assigned as part of the Train Crew for the Day.
    • Turn off Signaled Crossings and Apply De-Rail (In Truck) when not Assigned as part of the Train Crew for the Day.
    • Perform any necessary maintenance on Trucks or Locomotives.
    • Any / All additional duties that could be assigned.
    EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 3 years as a crew member.
    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
    • Possess a Valid Driver's License.
    • Pass any / all physicals or drug tests.
    • Must Pass a Hearing and Sight Test prior to the start of the Locomotive Engineer Course.
    • The Physical Ability / strength to perform all necessary duties.
