    Job Summary



    Responsible for baking pastries and bread in an institutional dining operation as well as catering operations.

    This position will interact on a regular basis with:

    Responsibilities



    Job Duty 1 -
    Prepares a wide variety of bakery items from scratch including pastries, breads, and plated desserts.

    Job Duty 2 -
    Decorates pastries and frosts cakes.

    Job Duty 3 -
    Scales recipes properly.

    Job Duty 4 -
    Ensures food quality, including tasting food for quality control.

    Job Duty 5 -
    Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications



    Educational Requirements
    High School Diploma/GED or Vocational School Diploma

    Required Experience
    One or more year of job-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Preferred Qualifications



    Additional Preferred Qualifications
    Having a culinary certification in baking from the culinary arts program, and ServSafe Certification preferred.

    Preferred Experience
    Two or more years of working in the related field

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities



    ABILITIES
    Must have open availability to include nights and weekends. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work with diverse population, and take direction required.

    SKILLS
    This job requires skilled training and practical experience in baking pastries, cakes and/or bread in a commercial kitchen environment. Skill in preparing bakery items from scratch, decorating and frosting cakes, and recipe scaling.
    Good customer service skills are required.
