    Job DescriptionSalary: 75/k-80/k

    Payroll Specialist /Staff Accountant

    This position will consist of 60% payroll & labor compliance, 30% GL/Reconciliations, and 10% other assigned duties.

    Role Responsibilities

    • PAYROLL
    • Process in-house payroll from start to finish weekly.
    • Review timecards, process/review payroll, process check/direct deposit.
    • Make weekly payroll related payments (taxes, garnishments, 401k).
    • Prepare weekly certified payroll documents using programs such as LCP Tracker, Elations and California DIR website
    • All aspects of labor compliance on public works projects, skilled and trained reporting, monthly and final affidavits, etc.
    • Process and submit monthly union reports and payments.
    • Submit monthly OCIP reports.
    • Prepare and submit quarterly payroll tax filing and payments for IRS, California, and Nevada.
    • Prepare and submit Year End reporting and filings to IRS, California, and Nevada.
    • Process unemployment verifications and audits.
    • Assist with payroll related audits (Corporate, Work Comp, OCIP, etc.).
    • Complete and process employee garnishments.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Perform month-end close procedures and help prepare financial statements as needed
    • Enter and post journal entries, record appropriate monthly accruals, reconcile inter-company accounts, and perform analysis and provide reasoning for variances.
    • Assist in special projects and year-end audit schedule preparation
    • Must have construction or engineering background in a publics work environment.

    Experience/Education

    • Must have construction or engineering background in a publics work environment.
    • Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, or relevant work experience preferred.
    • Progressive accounting and finance experience.
    • Strong understanding of construction and project accounting fundamentals.
    • Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting desired.
    • Proficient in Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, Acumatica or another related construction ERP. Desktop, Excel, and Office.
