    Job Description:

    Roger Williams University's School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management (SECCM) is seeking adjunct faculty to teach introductory computer science lectures and laboratories. The responsibilities include lecture and/or lab instruction including COMSC110 Introduction to Computer Science and Lab, COMSC 111 Data Structures and Lab, and COMSC 210 Principles of Computer Organization and Lab., aiding students in the construction and testing of basic programs and the assessment of student work. The primary language for the lectures and/or laboratory in COMSC110 and COMSC111 is Java. Assembly languages are used in COMSC210.

    The SECCM is also seeking adjunct faculty to teach various undergraduate computer science lectures and laboratories in topics such as Algorithms, Compilers, Operating Systems, Programming Languages, Theory, or Special Topics as they arise. The selected person is responsible for delivering lectures and/or lab, developing assessment items (homework, quizzes, exams, etc) and assessing student work. The instructor has flexibility in programming language selection for these courses.

    The selected applicant is also responsible for providing an end-of-course assessment using a specified format.


    Requirements:

    The qualified applicant will hold at least a Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. A Ph.D. is preferred. The applicant for the introductory courses should possess experience with programming, debugging, as well as patience as many in the course may have never programmed prior to the class. The applicant for other courses should possess experience relevant to the course topics. Previous teaching experience is a plus. Availability to teach a lecture or laboratory within the hours of 8:00a.m.- 5:00 p.m. is preferred but not a requirement of this position.
