    Description

    California Drywall is currently seeking a Senior Estimator for its Metal Stud Framing and Drywall division.

    The Estimator will prepare comprehensive interior and exterior Sheathing, Lath & Plaster budgets and estimate proposals through quantity surveying and detailed pricing for commercial construction projects. Assignments will range in value, but will often exceed $3,000,000.

    The estimator will demonstrate excellent people and communication skills and is the lead during the bidding of a project, working closely with others within the company during the bid process to achieve thorough, detailed, accurate estimates and their timely delivery to our Clients.

    We expect our estimators to transfer complete information and work closely with internal team (Project Managers, Superintendents, Purchasing, Safety, Field Personnel, Finance, etc.) upon awarding of jobs to ensure that the company's goals (profitability, safety, quality, etc.) are met or exceeded for each project.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Prepare accurate conceptual estimates, budgets and pricing, per bid procedures:

    • Organized, thorough quantity take off
    • Review of all drawings, addenda, specifications, RFIs, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work for estimate,
    • Review of bid documents, for any special requirements ( i.e. bid bonds, insurances, pre-qualifications, signatures, etc.) and get to appropriate company personnel well in advance of bid,
    • Generating and submitting bid questions/RFIs,
    • Meeting bid deadline,
    • Preparation of formal proposal, including cover letters and bid proposal, including the cost breakdown, clarifications, complete scope of work narrative and exclusions.

    Follow-up after submission of estimates to General Contractors.

    Participate in negotiating final pricing, contracts, etc., as required.

    Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Field Personnel, Purchasing, and Safety on successful bids to provide a smooth and thorough transition to the Project Team:

    • Assist Project Managers with scopes of work,
    • Review drawings, specifications and owner requirements with Project Managers, Superintendents, Safety and Purchasing,
    • Prepare estimate turnovers.

    Develop business with new and existing clients and maintain relationships with contacts industry wide.

    Participate in and ensure successful project hand-offs on all required projects.

    Participate in business development and sales efforts.

    Perform well under tight deadlines.

    Promote a team approach and participate in the improvement of California Drywall.

    REQUIREMENTS

    To be eligible to perform this job, an individual must possess the following:

    4 year related degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or field experience,

    10+ years commercial estimating experience for:

    • Exterior and Interior Metal Stud Framing & Drywall
    • Load Bearing Light Gauge Metal Structures

    A demonstrated track record of successful, profitable projects of $3,000,000 +,

    Proven track record for working well for/with General Contractors,

    Comprehensive knowledge of cost control, budgeting, and accurate and decisive cost reporting, billing and forecasting

    Comprehensive knowledge of codes, standards, materials, and construction techniques unique to our business,

    Experience estimating various types of project including

    • Core & Shell
    • Education
    • Healthcare
    • Labs & Biotech
    • Multi-Family Residential
    • Tenant Improvements

    Above average computer skills including experience with:

    • Estimating software (On Center Quick Bid, On Screen Take Off, etc.),
    • Scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project, etc.),
    • Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project, etc.
    • BIM modeling software (Revit, etc.),

    Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team,

    Must be personable and possess good communication skills – Serve as company interface with General Contractors, Architects, Construction Managers, Owners, Consultants, Vendors and Internal Team.
