Head Lifeguard

Aquatics Coordinator
LOCATION:
Primarily stationed at the Serengeti Springs Waterpark (Hattiesburg Zoo); but work requires travel to all Hattiesburg Convention Commission (HCC) facilities.
These include but are not limited to, the Lake Terrace Convention Center, Hattiesburg Visitors Center, Saenger Theater, African American Military History Museum, and the Eureka School Museum.
Travel also may be required for conferences and seminars.SHIFT:
Seasonal :
Minimum 40 hours per week on a schedule that provides best opportunity for establishing and improving long-term patterns for effective and efficient zoo operations and excellent guest experiences.
Varied schedule requiring a mix of weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays as required.SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Lifeguard to oversee the safety and well-being of all guests at Serengeti Springs.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to manage a team of lifeguards effectively.
This position involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and providing a positive experience for all visitors.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the lifeguard team to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests at Serengeti Springs.
Conduct regular training sessions and drills for lifeguard staff to maintain high standards of safety and emergency response.
Monitor and assess the swimming area for potential hazards, and enforce safety rules and regulations.
Respond to emergencies and provide first aid and CPR as necessary; maintain records of incidents and safety drills.
Provide excellent customer service, addressing guest inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
Participate in special events and promotions to enhance the visitor experience.
Assist in the Emergency Action Plan as a designated responder to ensure we are providing our guests the best possible care until EMS arrives on scene.
Always represent the property in a professional manor with proper dress and all modes of communication.Assists with other tasks as assigned or needed.
Qualification Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Previous lifeguard experience with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or team leader role preferred.
Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage and motivate a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and make decisions in high-pressure situations.
Knowledge of water safety practices, pool operations, and emergency response protocols.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed during peak season.
Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Essential Job Qualifications
Must retain a valid Driver's License and meet the eligibility requirements to drive while conducting company Business.
Knowledge And Skills
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in a humid, warm environment and be immersed in water for extended periods of time.
Position sometimes requires the ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs. and up to 100 lbs.
Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs.
Able to function independently as a leader within a diverse work environment, as well as part of a team.
