    We are looking for an experienced highly motivated and results-driven Construction Engineer to join our established technical team. As a Construction Engineer, you will be responsible for managing our metal buildings projects, particularly those of higher complexity. Your expertise in this area will be instrumental in ensuring successful projects execution, meeting deadlines, and exceeding client expectations. The role requires a strong understanding of the metal building construction process, project planning and effective leadership skills. You must be a confident communicator with a persuasive personality who can support the various sales channels and the Technical Services department. The Construction Engineer will work closely with the Technical Services team, project managers, and the Sales team to become quickly integrated as a key team member. Construction Engineers often play important roles in the combination of on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring of other team members, and this will enable them to enjoy outstanding professional growth and career opportunities within the Allied organization.

    Responsibilities

    • On Site Support
    • Technical and Order Clarity
    • Works directly with Sales and Project Team members and other project stakeholders to guide, assess and recommend best practices for project execution.
    • Supports Sales Team during initial project assessments.
    • Clarifies main procedural technical steps for design, drawings, and detailing.
    • Attends project kickoff meetings, supporting the project manager on the handoff of technical information.
    • Design Professional Liaison
    • Work in collaboration with design engineers to provide design solutions and approaches.
    • Act as the interface between Allieds clients and production design engineers.
    • Works in tandem with sales and project managers to interface with architects and engineers, providing structural technical support.
    • Assists in interpreting design development, schematic and construction documents, including specifications.
    • Works with the Technical Services Team on the coordinated use of drawings from design professionals.
    • Structural and Technical Support
    • Sets and maintains (or assists) internal technical production schedules.
    • Provides technical support on software tools related to PEMB modeling and design.
    • Participates in training sessions for current and new Allied team members.
    • Serves as the primary technical resource for Allied team members.
    • Technical Process Teams Coordination
    • Prepares project information packages for use by CADD technicians, detailers, checkers and other members of internal and external technical teams.
    • Responds to queries and provides clarification as needed for projects in design, drawing and/or detailing.
    • Maintains primary liaison communication with the Technical Services Team and other teams and groups at Allied.
    • Value Engineering Support
    • Reviews post sale designs for improvements in structural efficiency and weight savings.
    • Offers recommendations for alternate supply chain products.
    • Production Support
    • Interfaces with supply chain partners and project managers to answer production related questions and assist as needed to ensure meeting delivery schedules.
    • Post Delivery Support
    • Handles Field Service Requests from Project Managers.
    • Promptly provides solutions to field related issues, utilizing the resources of the Technical Services Team and supply chain partners.
    • Works with supply chain partners to address shortages and defects, reporting back to project managers.
    • Attends Technical Services department meetings.
    • Follows and enforces processes, procedures and systems for exceptional project success.
    • Primary focus is on high complexity projects.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • 5 plus years of demonstrable experience in the PEMB industry.
    • Associates or Bachelors degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management, or relevant technical field or equivalent working experience.
    • Solid understanding and experience in design of PEMB and Steel structures
    • Skilled at reading and understanding project drawings and specifications.
    • Experience with MBS design software.
    • Capable of navigating and commenting on project documents (PDF, .dwg, .xls) using viewer and commenting/collaboration software.
    • Experience in the following software: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent proficient in the use of Excel and AutoCAD. Tekla experience is a plus.
    • Highly organized with excellent multi-tasking abilities and experience.
    • Deep logical thinker with an eye for detail and design.
    • Able to facilitate groups, manage external resources, and negotiate- getting groups to work together to meet the expectations.
    • Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
    • Positive outlook with a forward-thinking global perspective.
    • Team oriented and highly adaptive to various markets and project types.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills clearly able to relay technical concepts.
    • Must be results-oriented, high energy individual contributor and team player with a high work ethic.
    • Plus: bilingual in Spanish to service Latin markets.
