- Provide telephonic crisis intervention services, assessment, and referral.
- Using counseling techniques like motivational interviewing, active engagement, collaborative problem solving, and good contact, help calls identify and resolve personal, social, and interpersonal concerns.
- Factoring in the caller's circumstances, history, support, internal and external resources, and level of risk, make referrals and or link the caller to the appropriate service or information using established protocols.
- Depending on the risk level, determine appropriate linkage and referral which can range from information only to active rescue and dispatch of EMS and law enforcement.
- Actively collaborate with designated counselors/social workers and/or shift supervisors for decisions outside scope of certification/licensure.
- Complete appropriate, timely, and accurate documentation in accordance with established criteria.
- Adhere to established standards/guidelines for efficiency and productivity.
- Actively facilitate placement from initial contact until final disposition or until successfully and appropriately delegated to another staff member.
- Provide linkage follow-up as directed to assure individual accessed services.
- Train, coach, and develop new hires as assigned.
- Maintain job knowledge, current/valid certification, or licensure in the state of Ohio, and adhere to 2 professional Code of Ethics.
- Crisis Counselor I Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor I or Certified Peer Recovery Supporter
- If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in RI International driving policy.
- If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.

Description
Summary of Job:
Screen, assess, triage, and provide telephonic crisis intervention/de-escalation to assist in identifying concerns with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and/or substance abuse using established protocols to collaboratively determine an immediate course of action.
Utilize assessment information and community resources to provide information and/or linkage and referral to services. Complete appropriate documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Answer all calls within response guidelines and using the crisis call center's policies, procedures, and scripts necessary for screening of service requests.

May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination, use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses. May be required to lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
Work Environment
May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused.
Warmline over-the-phone Peer Support Specialist will work in a remotely and not be in an office or behavioral health facility.
Education:
Crisis Counselor I
High school diploma/GED
Crisis Counselor II
Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health discipline.
Crisis Counselor III
Master's degree in a behavioral health discipline with an internship or practicum
Crisis Counselor IV
Master's degree in a behavioral health discipline
Licensure
Crisis Counselor I
Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor I or Certified Peer Recovery Supporter
Crisis Counselor II
At least one year experience of direct behavior health/IDD care preferred but not required, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II, Licensed Social Worker, or Certified Peer Recovery Supporter with three years' experience as a peer specialist
Crisis Counselor III
Currently in an Internship or Practicum
Crisis Counselor IV
Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Ohio or NBCC certification as a National Certified Counselor
