    Job Summary

    This position reports to the Site Health & Safety Manager with an overall objective to drive compliance and performance improvements in the site's Health & Safety program.

    How You Can Be the Impact

    • Assist in development and implementation of site initiative to drive Health & Safety performance.
    • Own and drive one or more SHEM Elements/Sub-Element. (SHEM = corporate management system related to EHSS)
    • Key to this role will be to driving Culture, Compliance, Education and Training employees at all levels on regulatory requirements, driving/implementing/improving the Safety Culture per current initiatives and/or future initiatives.
    • May work closely with Medical Department on various cases, including worker's comp, return to work fitness for duty.
    • Lead and/or assist in incident investigations or review incidents for thoroughness.
    • Lead, coach and mentor other members of Health & Safety as needed.
    • Create alignment and consistency between units for Health & Safety programs and initiatives.
    • Make recommendations on Health & Safety practices.
    • Periodically perform audits in the field.
    • Perform applicable data mining and suggest ideas for areas of concern.
    • Participate/Lead Safety and Health and efforts during Unit or Site Outage

    What Matters to SABIC

    • B.S. in Occupational Safety & Health or related science or engineering field.
    • Minimum of 5 -10 years' experience in a manufacturing setting.
    • Certified Safety Professional preferred but not required.
    • Must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the company as well as external regulatory agencies.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability, excellent interpersonal skills and experience implementing effective Health & Safety programs / improvements

    Physical Requirements: Mixture of sitting, standing, walking throughout plant to process equipment, climbing fixed and portable ladders and entering vessels for inspection activities. Needs to comply with site regulations for PPE while in process areas. Occasionally lifting 50 pounds. Must have a valid driver's license.
