Summary
The Palliative Care Section at VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) invites applications for a full-time position as a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Physician.
The successful candidate will attend on the 15-bed hospice and palliative care (HPC) unit and provide acute care inpatient and outpatient consultative services as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance:
Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
The position involves teaching and mentoring hospice and palliative medicine and geriatric fellows from Harvard Medical School, Tufts School of Medicine and Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine.
The position includes clinical oversight and quality management for the HPC unit and the consultative service on the Brockton Campus of VABHS.
The successful candidate should have a passion for the VA's mission to educate our next generation of clinicians and a willingness to collaborate with our academic community partners as well as an interest in quality improvement, systems growth, programmatic development, leadership and/or research.
Academic appointment at Harvard Medical School (HMS) as Instructor or Assistant Professor will be proposed commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
VABHS is a multi-campus tertiary care medical center that provides a full range of patient care services along with nationally recognized education and innovative research activities.
VABHS has one of the largest research programs in VA with several federally funded research centers, including VA's signature genetic repository, the Million Veteran Program, which offer significant collaborative opportunities.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am - 4:30pm, with some on-call responsibilities.
