- Ensure compliance with procedures, protocols, and other instructions provided by the coordinator of health services or contained in division manuals and protocols.
- Provide nursing care and physical screening to students; assess students and implement first aid measures for students as needed.
- Assume responsibility for appropriate assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management, and referral activities for students.
- Implement and record required screening programs; notify parents when further medical evaluation is indicated.
- Establish and update health and immunization records
- Prepare and maintain student clinic records and prepare required reports.
- Administer daily and PRN (as needed) medications and nursing care procedures prescribed by the student's physician.
- Initiate emergency procedures for students and staff as needed.
- Develop Individual Health Care Plans and 504 Plans for students to be reviewed by Director of Student Support.
- Participate in IEP meetings as needed to provide professional expertise on services
- Paying higher, scaffolded teacher salaries from Year 1 to retirement stage

- Focus on staff well being and collective care through our Adult Social-Emotional Learning

ABOUT USFreedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools ) is a K-12 charter school in Memphis, TN. Our mission is to prepare all students in grades K-12 to excel in college and in life. Freedom Preparatory Academy opened in August of 2009 with a class of 96 6th graders. We now serve over 2,100 students in grades PreK-12.
Our students have exceeded local and state averages in math and local averages in English language arts on the state exam.

POSITION OVERVIEWThe School Nurse will address the basic medical issues that occur with the assigned student population. S/he will provide scheduled care and treatment to the assigned student population.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will play a critical role in achieving our mission of providing all children the opportunity to achieve all they can and be a part of the Freedom Prep community.
Below are some of the tasks required of the
School Nurse:
Associates Preferred LPN Certification Required
2+ years of professional work experience with background in education and urban communities preferred
Ability to use clinic/medical equipmentPossess basic pharmacological knowledge
Ability to assess emergency situations and act accordingly
Comfortable knowledge of universal procedures and ability to teach this to others
Good oral and written communication skills
Basic computer skills
Willing attitude to be a part of the school team;
Strong sense of professionalism;
Skills and requirements expected by the nursing coordinator and the school administrators
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Willingness to travel locally using own transportation; willingness to travel within the state, as required
Willingness to work additional hours and/or evenings, on occasion
Making referrals to public or private agencies with appropriate follow-up
Serving as a liaison between school, family, and community resources
Experience with special needs students
Experience with Crisis Management
Experience with social and community organization coordination of benefits
$47,500 - $67,500 a year
Salary is based on years of experience.
