    Role: Description.

    Introduction:

    The Junior Sub-School Team and Transition Leader will be part of a dynamic team with major responsibilities in various areas of the School's ongoing development. The role involves leadership in cultivating a sub-school culture aligned with the Eltham High School Principles of Teaching and Learning, Core Values, and the Deeds that Count. The successful candidate will also play a key role in implementing, reviewing, and enhancing the school's Transition strategy and processes.

    The Junior Sub-School Team and Transition Leader will be accountable to the Assistant Principal (Empowering Students and Building School Pride) and ultimately to the Principal. This role necessitates close collaboration with the Student Body, the Principal Class Team, Staff, Parents, and the local and wider Communities. The focus is on providing outstanding leadership in student learning within the school.

    • Effective monitoring and reporting of the progress of specific year levels, groups, and individual students.
    • Developing proactive strategies to support student attendance.
    • Maintaining clear and open communication with parents, support personnel, and external agencies.
    • Providing key support in student welfare.
    • Promoting student involvement in co-curricular activities.
    • Acknowledging and promoting student achievement within and outside of the school.
    • Enhancing parental involvement in their children's education.
    • Engaging both the local and wider communities in the school.

    The Junior Sub-School Team and Transition Leader will exercise judgement and initiative in problem resolution, ensuring adherence to policies and standards. Collaboration with the School Leadership team in strategic planning is essential, focusing on the needs of junior school students, parents, the community, and the school.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Enhance current programs and develop new ones reflecting the needs and values of the school community.
    • Provide leadership and support to the junior sub-school team.
    • Oversee the implementation of School policies related to learning and student engagement.
    • Collaborate with school leadership on curriculum and pedagogy development.
    • Participate in school tours for prospective students and parents.
    • Support transition into high school for Year 7 students.
    • Liaise with primary schools for seamless student transitions.
    • Plan for the transition of students with additional needs.
    • Manage Year 7 enrolment applications and transition processes.
    • Provide support for student learning and welfare.
    • Lead student support structures and programs.
    • Coordinate with relevant groups for effective dialogue and support.
    • Handle administrative tasks associated with sub-school operations.
    • Advise on student engagement and management strategies.
    • Participate in committees and report on student matters.
    • Commit to professional growth and development.
    • Train and mentor new teachers.
    • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Principal.

    VIT LANTITE:

    Eligibility for employment, transfer, or promotion requires provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Additional literacy and numeracy test requirements may apply since August 3, 2020.
