    Woodworker for Custom Cabinet Shop Production

    Join the Swan Creek Team

    Duties:

    · Read detailed architectural drawings, schematics, shop drawings, and blueprints

    · Prepare and set up machines and tooling for woodwork manufacturing

    · Lift wood pieces onto machines, either by hand or with hoists

    · Operate woodworking machines, including saws and milling and sanding machines

    · Listen for unusual sounds and watch for excessive vibration in machinery

    · Select the proper cutting, milling, boring, and sanding tools for completing a job

    · Use hand-tools to trim pieces or assemble products

    · Maintain machines, such as by cleaning and oiling them or replacing worn blades

    · Assemble wooden parts or assemblies to form sections, frames, or complete articles of furniture

    · May drill holes and attach hardware, such as drawer guides, drawer locks, catches, and latches, using power drill and hand-tools.

    · Knocks connecting parts together with mallet or compresses assembled parts in clamp until glue has dried.

    · Performs sanding, staining, and other cabinetry finishing processes

    · Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily weekly, project, or team related production goals

    · Ability to effectively communicate with team and customers

    · Ensures that sub-assembled and assembled items meet specific quality and project specifications; adjusting as necessary - may propose process improvements in order to increase finished quality or efficiency of assembled processes

    · Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers

    · Participate in shared housekeeping rotations throughout the facility

    · Willing to submit to a criminal background check and drug screen

    Important Qualities:

    · Detail oriented. Woodworkers must pay attention to details in order to meet specifications and to keep themselves safe.

    · Dexterity. Woodworkers must make precise cuts with a variety of hand-tools and power tools, so they need good hand-eye coordination.

    · Math skills. Woodworkers need to understand basic geometry in order to visualize how a three-dimensional wooden object, such as a cabinet or piece of furniture, will fit together.

    · Mechanical skills. The use of hand-tools, such as screwdrivers and wrenches, is required to set up, adjust, and calibrate machines. These automated systems also require woodworkers to use computers and other programmable devices.

    · Physical stamina. Woodworkers often stand for long periods performing many of the same functions.

    · Physical strength. Woodworkers must be able to lift bulky, heavy pieces of wood.

    · Technical skills. Woodworkers must be able to interpret design drawings and technical manuals for a range of products and machines. They also should be able to troubleshoot issues as they arise.

    · Conscientious. Swan Creek is known for producing high value cabinetry for residential homes; your work must meet Swan Creek quality standards. Must have excellent attendance.

    Desirable:

    · Experience with spray guns (HVLP and/or air assisted), sanding, color blending, color matching, and touch-up

    · Knowledge of specialty finishes and different wood types

    · Carpentry skills and wood shop experience

    · Proven leadership skills

    · Training in principles of Lean Manufacturing

    Environment:

    · Work is performed within a production environment subject to temperature variations.

    · At times, woodworkers handle heavy, bulky materials and may encounter noise, dust, and chemicals. As a result, they regularly wear hearing protection, safety glasses, and respirators or masks.

    · This is a full-time hourly position, and requires a commitment to a minimum of 40 hours per week.

    · Shift: 1st shift start time is 7:30am sharp, Monday through Friday; with occasional Saturdays

    · Compensation is negotiated on an individual basis to commensurate with experience
