de Toledo High School, a vibrant and innovative independent high school, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Learning Specialist for a full-time position beginning in August 2024.
The Learning Specialist is a full-time position that reports to the Director of Learning Support and works in close collaboration with the High School Principal and the Student Support Team. The candidate must show excellent skills as a teacher and a passion for teaching. A strong candidate will have the heart of a teacher, the passion for igniting teenagers' curiosity, and the love for inspiring students to move outside of their comfort zones. The Learning Specialist plays a significant role in addressing the educational needs and challenges of dTHS students and also supports faculty and parents.
Responsibilities:
Direct Instruction
Teach courses in English and History to a small group of students.
Coordinate and meet with students one-on-one or in small groups for academic support and follow up with the support team, teachers, and parents.
Collaboration with Teachers
Develop lessons introducing research-based study and executive function strategies.
Documentation
Maintain student files as they relate to school accommodations and admissions documentation.
Interpret and translate educational testing results into appropriate accommodations and/or recommendations in line with de Toledo's programs and policies
Standardized Testing
Coordinate with the registrar to process requests and keep records of standardized tests accommodations.
Support for Families
Help families find appropriate outside educational services when necessary and facilitate communication between those services and the school.
Partnership with Outside Professionals
Facilitate communication between assessors and teachers, collecting forms, scheduling observations, and keeping records.
