- Handles legal disputes for the Company in state courts where authorized to practice, utilizing specialized case management tools
- Acts on behalf of the Company and its partners in legal proceedings, gathers evidence, presents cases, and carries out other litigation-related duties
- Ensures precise and prompt case management by drafting legal paperwork, formulating effective strategies, and presenting arguments to defendants, opposing counsel, and court staff
- Represents the Company during various legal proceedings such as scheduling meetings, mediations, settlements, depositions, hearings, and trials
- Guarantees adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and corporate policies within the designated scope of duties
- Must hold a Juris Doctor Degree
- Active member of the California bar
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent
- Prior experience in litigation including drafting legal pleadings, involvement in all stages of discovery, and trial management
- Familiarity with legislation such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Truth-In-Lending Act, and Equal Credit Opportunity Act, as well as other federal and state laws related to consumer credit and collections
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders at various levels
- Effective organizational skills, time-management, interpersonal abilities, and keen attention to detail
- Capable of identifying and assessing the implications of multiple factors in a given scenario, and providing informed business decisions
- Adept at researching, analyzing, and interpreting statutes, case law, professional literature, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
