    We have greased the wheels, and now we are ready for someone to take us to the next level as our first fully dedicated Business Development professional.

    If you're excited about getting in at the ground level and driving growth, this position might be for you. Your task? To architect and lead our BD efforts from the outset.

    This role is a 60/40 government/commercial split and will be responsible for integrating a cohesive business development strategy across both sectors.


    As the Head of BD, you will be the driving force behind our B2B and B2G channels, directly influencing revenue generation, and leading market validation efforts.

    Katalyst is building a lot of traction, but we don't have established pipelines. Autonomy is key. We are looking for a builder, someone who can start making an impact from day one.

    Key Responsibilities

    Channel development:
    Identify and develop efficient end user and partner sales channels

    Forge and nurture value-producing relationship, actively exploring how Katalyst's solutions meet customer needs

    Represent Katalyst at key events, driving partnerships and sales opportunities

    Understand and convey product value proposition, bridging technical details with stakeholder requirements

    Identify opportunities and orient solutions to government needs between Katalyst (and Katalyst partners) and programs of records to leverage and drive forward parallel opportunities

    Develop and execute customer tracking and sales funnel methodology

    Revenue generation:
    Prospecting, qualifying, proposing, and closing business

    Align Katalyst's roadmap and resource allocation to capitalize on funding and technical opportunities, ensuring responses are comprehensively scoped to advance broader organizational goals

    Collaborate closely with the engineering team to conduct in-depth feasibility analyses for product concepts, placing a strong emphasis on aligning with Katalyst's product development priorities and roadmap

    Lead capture efforts including, identifying, developing, and managing opportunities from lead generation to contract award, ensuring alignment with Katalyst's strategic objectives

    Work with the product teams to develop separate pricing strategies for commercial and government customers based on their unique value recognition/consumption and purchasing/contracting behaviors

    Drive government BD efforts, defining and acquisitions and procurement pathways, including identifying contract vehicles, to secure contracts while ensuring compliance with governmental norms and regulations

    Guide the executive team to effective resource decision-making by developing, reviewing, and providing insight into the BD roadmap and revenue funnel

    Roadmap development:
    Strategic planning and market adaptation

    Regularly review and update Katalyst's product roadmap based on the latest market intelligence, customer feedback, and strategic analysis. Ensure that Katalyst remains agile and responsive, staying ahead of market trends and customer needs

    Quantify the viability and Total Addressable Market for defined and emerging Katalyst services; Analyze impact of results on Katalyst narrative and BD strategy

    Conduct routine tracking of market shifts, new and ongoing partnerships, and injection of funding into relevant markets; Use this information to inform Katalyst strategy and product roadmap

    Communicate Katalyst's value proposition to customers and align with customer needs and feedback to clearly understand customers' present and future needs

    Frequent travel for conferences, meetings, and customer/stakeholder engagements

    Qualifications
    Required

    Bachelor's degree in business or engineering; technical background preferred

    5+ years of experience in business development, with a proven track record of developing and executing growth strategies and establishing strategic partnerships within the aerospace industry

    High Level of Ownership:
    The ability to start running with responsibilities from day one, contributing immediately to the success of the company

    Deep understanding of government and DoD acquisitions processes

    Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders

    Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. System-design mindset necessary to build scalable processes

    Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to work independently and adapt to a rapidly changing environment

    Desired

    A combination of business and technical backgrounds is strongly desired

    Understanding of startup ecosystem within the space industry

    Strong understanding of satellite technologies, in-space servicing, and the space industry landscape
