    Position Description:
    The Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager to ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications.

    Project Engineers have the opportunity to build a dynamic skill-set and gain valuable knowledge that will launch them into a successful career path.

    The PE and PM will work as a team for successful project completion.


    Qualifications/Experience:
    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Entry level position for PM career track for college graduates with a 4-year degree in Construction Management or 2 yearS of construction experience is prefered.

    A working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
    Ability to operate an iPad, phone, and email.

    Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
    Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
    Good listening skills – the ability to listen effectively and receive feedback from the employee perspective without passing judgement.

    Effective written and verbal communication skills with both workers, superiors, and clients.
    Adheres to all J.M. Cope policies & procedures
    A good team player, self-confident, motivated, and independent.
    Dedicated team building, interpersonal, decision making, problem solving and negotiating skills needed.
    Candidates must possess a strong work ethic.
    Background check and Driver's License required


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    Understands construction drawings and specifications, contract document and construction schedules.

    Prepare minutes of safety/production meetings as assigned by PM

    Understands the 3 week look ahead and schedule software and can navigate such.
    Maintain control of all project documentation. Update project records as needed.
    Assist PM with applications, contracts, cost estimates and change orders

    Track, record, and monitor all RFI's, drawings changes, directive, etc.
    Assist project team in preparation of the monthly reports

    Coordinate shop drawings and submittal review process.
    Take regular progress photos and update weekly job report
    Understands overall safety culture of J M Cope.
    Learns the meeting processes, able to record and distribute correct meeting minutes and notes when required. Understands importance of proper means of communication and teamwork. (PROCORE Certified on meetings - OAC, Subcontractor coordination, internal staff/team, ETC.)
    Helps with the punch list to completion.
    Performs other duties, actions and responsibilities as needed.


    Physical Requirements:
    This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as well as, evening and weekend work that may be required as job duties demand.

    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    Occupation may require physical activity.
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.

    The employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.


    The employee will require the physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.

    The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.

    Performance for this job requires close and distance vision.
    Able to travel as needed. Must be able to visit multiple job sites if needed.
    Employees are expected to work safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean work area.
