    The Vice President, Tax is responsible for overseeing and optimizing GreatAmerica's tax strategies and risk management framework, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations, and leading a team of professionals responsible for the efficient, accurate and timely filing of income, sales, and property taxes for GreatAmerica and third-party service clients.

    The Vice President, Tax will also have the primary accountability for designing and ensuring the appropriate sustainable teams, technology, and processes are in place and continually improved as the organization evolves.

    This individual will set the cultural tone for GreatAmerica's tax team and serve as a role model of GreatAmerica principles for the organization, while contributing in a material way to the company's overall financial success.

    Develop and execute comprehensive tax strategies to minimize the company's tax obligations while ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations in the United States and Canada.

    Provide leadership and guidance to the tax team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business units, operating domains, finance, legal, and executive leadership, to align tax planning with overall business objectives.

    Oversee and ensure high quality outcomes across the income, sales, and property tax life cycles, including the management of audits, tax reconciliations, registrations, client support, and other special projects.

    Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations, assessing their potential impact on the company's operations and proactively recommending adjustments to tax strategies.

    Provide strategic tax guidance on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other corporate transactions to mitigate tax risks and maximize financial benefits.

    Build and maintain relationships with external tax advisors, tax service contract relationships, auditors, and regulatory authorities to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

    Prepare and present clear and concise tax reports and updates to the executive team and the board of directors, as needed.

    Partner with the Accounting Team to implement and maintain internal controls and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable tax reporting, financial reporting, and compliance.

    Foster an environment of continuous improvement in process efficiency and performance effectiveness.
    Responsible for performance management and career development of the tax team leaders.
    Analytical Skills, Financial Aptitude, Detail Oriented, Problem Solving, Judgment, Working under Pressure, Strong interpersonal skills.
    Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. A minimum of ten years directly related work experience in tax and progressive leadership experience.

    Computer Skills
    ~ Microsoft Office (strong Microsoft Excel skills), research software (RIA, CCH) preferred, tax preparation software (Sales, Property, Income) preferred.

    Candidate must possess strong leadership skills to serve as a role model for the Tax Team and GreatAmerica.
