    Estimator (Construction)

    Location: Columbus, OH (but Company is also willing to consider candidates in: Toledo; Dallas; Roanoke; or Charlotte)

    Full-Time / Direct-Hire

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in analyzing incoming bid opportunities to determine effort and worthiness of bid preparation.
    • Support the Senior Project Manager by performing initial bid reviews with the PM team to prepare for bid close-out.
    • Attend pre-bid meetings and project meetings to represent Company as directed by the Senior Project Manager.
    • Preparation of Bids as needed, including:
    • Review and understand all plans, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents required to complete an accurate bid and proposal.
    • Evaluate constructability issues during the proposal preparation process.
    • Procure subcontract and material quotes as well as perform a review of each for conformance with project specifications.
    • Prepare a summary of additional project requirements including the project schedule and milestones and review with the Senior Project Manager and Director of Preconstruction prior to bid.
    • Communicate the equipment needs of the bid with the equipment department to procure rate information for evaluation by the estimating team.
    • Set up bids in HCSS as directed.
    • Assist Senior Project Manager and Director of Preconstruction in pricing & final submission of bid documents.
    • Assist in the preparation and execution of subcontractor and material procurement components as requested.
    • Attend in-house pre-job meeting to review the scope of the project with assigned Project Manager.
    • If requested, attend a pre-job meeting with the owner as needed.
    • Assist in the preparation of all documents including schedule, purchase orders, subcontracts, as requested.
    • Travel to Company offices and project sites in locations within the U.S. as needed to attend for training, assigned meetings, and conferences as requested.
    • Position to be based at any of Company's office locations.
    • Periodic travel to Company regional offices will be required.
    • Overnight and some extended travel to perform estimating duties will be necessary.
    • Air travel will be required.
    • Schedule and complete all duties with minimal direct supervision.
    • Develop and maintain a positive attitude and good working relationships with customers, employees, and the public.
    • Perform all duties consistent with the Company Mission Statement and Company philosophy.

    Requirements and Qualifications:

    • 3 5 years of heavy civil/site work construction estimating experience; (Roadway, DOT, Highway, Concrete Structures, Excavation, Utilities, Asphalt Paving, Concrete, Design & Build Projects)
    • Prior knowledge of Federal and Public Sector work, is preferred.
    • Experience with HCSS HeavyBid and HeavyJob, Plan Swift, Bluebeam, AgTek, Microsoft Suite, including Project, is preferred.
    • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering or equivalent field experience in Civil Construction.
    • Must be a self-starter with collaborative, entrepreneurial spirit, and willingness to think outside the box.
    • Train, educate and assist field representatives on the construction sites.
    • Strong analytical thought process with sound judgement and attention to detail while maintaining the ability prioritize and expedite when necessary
