    **Job Summary**

    University of Utah Dining Services provides fresh ideas and innovative concepts to the students dining experience here on campus. Performs a wide range of duties involved with food service, including customer service, food preparation and service, sanitation guidelines and practices, and point-of-sale transactions (if applicable), among other areas. This position is ideal if you are interested in gaining experience in opportunities to learn, observe, and practice a variety of experiences in the world of hospitality. As well as, customer service skills, relationship management, community outreach. Work-site will be on campus.

    This position also includes incentives such as $100 book store credit, paid fees for food handlers permit, free meal for each shift, and flexible scheduling.

    **Responsibilities**

    Performs prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables. Weighs and measures designated ingredients. Carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards. Stores food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures. Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils. Distributes supplies, utensils and portable equipment. Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control. Serves customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service. Resolves customer concerns and relays relevant information to supervisor. Ensures compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures. Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements. Working in different settings: FOH , BOH , Catering, Marketing and Administration Associate learning and development Assuring an exceptional guest experience Safety and Quality Assurance: Safe food in a safe environment Performs other duties as assigned.

    **Minimum Qualifications**

    Current Food Handlers Permit within one month of employment; must be able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in English; and a commitment to providing excellence in service required. Six months food handlers experience is preferred.

    The University of Utah as a degree-seeking student. Demonstrate awareness, understanding and skills necessary to work in a diverse environment. Must have Federal Work-Study award for academic year.
