    Description:

    The Center for Pediatrics TranslationalResearch and Education in the Department ofPediatrics at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a ResearchSpecialist (Technician) to join our team. Our project focuses on exploring theinteraction between metabolites and immune signaling to regulate macrophageresponses in the context of inflammatory diseases. In this capacity, the rolewill assist the Principal Investigator in conducting research in the field ofGastroenterology, specifically emphasizing mucosal immunology. The researchprimarily relies on the application of molecular biology techniques and geneticmodels.
    • Maintain mouse colonies, including setting up and maintaining breeder cages, caring for non-breeding cages, performing animal handling tasks such as weaning, ear notching, tail snips, dosing, and maintaining colony records.
    • Perform basic molecular biology experiments, including but not limited to genotyping, western blot analysis, qRT-PCR assays, and cell culture.
    • General laboratory management duties: Track and summarize lab supplies, verify the accuracy of invoices, and maintain inventory of reagents, mice, and/or lab supplies.
    • Following protocols, design and set up, and conduct basic experiments.
    • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in science or related field required. Master's degree in science preferred.
    • A minimum of 3 years related research experience.
    • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
    • Proficient in specific lab research techniques.
