    Description


    We are looking for a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS) to join our team!

    The CDIS will be reporting directly to the Director of Health Information Management, and will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate representation of severity of illness in medical records. This position involves thorough record reviews, collaboration with physicians, HIM professionals, and nursing staff. In addition, active participation in team meetings and staff education on the Clinical Documentation Management Program is a pivotal aspect of the role. The CDI will also work on enhancing inpatient medical record documentation within coding guidelines, including Medicare and Medicaid standards, to maintain corporate compliance. Timeliness, accuracy, and upholding the hospital's Mission, Vision, and Values are key responsibilities.

    Job Requirements:

    Required: Graduate of an accredited Nursing degree. MUST complete BSN (Bachelors in Nursing within 8 years of hire date into the Registered Nurse position). Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required at hire or within 6 weeks after hire.

    Experience: Strong clinical expertise in critical care or med/surg unit with at least five (5) years of acute care experience in an inpatient setting. Successful completion of a clinical competency test is essential, with a preferred certification in a specialty area.

    Hourly Rate Range: $46.02/hour, based on verified education and experience.
