    The laboratory of Dr. Manisha Patel ) in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is seeking applicants for a full-time Professional Research Assistant to conduct translational research studies related to understanding the role of metabolism in neurological disorders such as epilepsy. This position is perfectly suited to recent graduates with an interest in applying to medical or graduate school. Experienced professionals are also welcomed to apply.

    The candidate will conduct studies in zebrafish and cell models of epilepsy to investigate metabolic dysfunction and test protective therapies.

    Examples of Duties Performed


    • Support laboratory members in performing experiments and laboratory operations
    • Maintain zebrafish and cell lines and perform experiments using a variety of laboratory techniques including but not limited to cell viability, metabolism, PCR, western blots, and microscopy.
    • Maintain laboratory notebooks, compile, and analyze data, perform statistical analysis, prepare figures to display data
    • Present data at laboratory meetings
    • Assist in preparing figures and writing manuscripts for publication in scientific journals
    • Participate in laboratory maintenance including ordering supplies, cleaning benches and glassware, and preparing solutions
    • Assist in the review and implementation of lab protocols to meet safety requirements
    • Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations

    Salary Range

    The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $40,000 - $54,000.


    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.


    The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    A bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biophysics, biochemistry, cell/molecular biology, or a closely related field.

    • Experience with zebrafish research
