    Job Summary

    Under supervision of the Senior Center Manager, the Driver II, will provide transportation for the Senior Center clients and deliver food to those that are unable to attend the Senior Center. The incumbent may be required to transport families to the homes of community seniors to assist Tribal members in keeping strong family ties.
    Principle Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Transport seniors to and from facility and field trips.
    2. Serve as driver for homebound lunch deliveries ensuring food handling safety guideline compliance, including checking for temperature, meals are correct for the receiving elder, all deliveries are properly tracked, and documented.
    3. Perform a visual safety and physical welfare check when delivering meals, escort seniors to appointments, and assist on senior field trips.
    4. Maintain logbook regarding passengers and destinations.
    5. Pick-up and return relatives of seniors to provide family support visits ??? this can include local Tucson addresses as well as locations around Arizona.
    6. Provide transportation for senior outings and senior trips ??? this could be out of state or require evening travel.
    7. Assist seniors with outdoor activities, such as camp outs and nature walks.
    8. Conduct, ensure, review bus evacuation and safety procedure with seniors and staff prior to each bus trip.
    9. Ensure the cleanliness of the vehicle and that it is in working order.
    10. Assist in maintaining a clean kitchen facility.
    11. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.
    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Knowledge of:
    • Routine vehicle maintenance such as maintaining a full tank, properly inflated tire, oil check and water levels;
    • Driving safety policies and procedures;
    • HIPAA and confidentiality policies and procedures;
    • GSA, tribal and departmental policies and procedures regarding vehicles usage;
    • Safety and physical requirements for seniors;
    • Bus safety policies and procedures;
    • Safety procedures to transporting individuals with accessibility and mobility challenges;
    • Understanding of the physical welfare check assessment tool, food safety requirements, senior nutrition requirements and diet restrictions and senior services resources in area;
    • Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn;
    Skills and Abilities:
    • Operate motor vehicles;
    • Ability to read map or use GPS system;
    • Work independently;
    • Maintain records and reports on all clients transported;
    • Function well under pressure;
    • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
    • Lift up to 50 pounds;
    • Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.
    Education, Certifications and Experience Required

    High School Diploma and three (3) years of driving experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient tofulfill the essential functions of the position.

    Special Requirements:
    • Must have a current/valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with Passenger Endorsement.
    • Out of country travel must have valid passport or Endorsed Tribal Card for travel to Mexico;
    • First Aid and CPR AEDA Certification or able to obtain the certification within six (6) months of hire;
    • TB Test;
    • Must be able to work weekends, evenings or any other regularly scheduled runs, if necessary;
    • Must have a clean driving record with no moving violations in the past three (3) years; failure to maintain a good driving record will result in termination;
    • Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination.
