The employee serves as the Field Operations and Finance Team Leader in the Tennessee Division.

The employee is responsible for administering Federal-aid Highway programs within Tennessee and provides specialized technical assistance, guidance, oversight, stewardship, compliance & process reviews, program evaluations, approvals, and advice on development and implementation activities associated with the design, construction, maintenance, operations, and financing of projects.

As a

Lead Highway Civil Engineer

, you will:

Serve as the principal advisor to the Division Administrator and the Deputy Division Administrator and provide policy and program direction on a statewide basis to promote and administer the Federal-aid highway program in the areas of design, construction, maintenance, operations, and financing of projects.

Represent the Tennessee Division and FHWA in matters with Federal, State, and local and other agency officials, as well as consultant and contractor representatives and the public.

Maintain regular contact with Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) representatives to provide day-to-day advice and policy guidance in the broad areas of design, construction, operations, and maintenance.

As well as keeping informed of emerging activities and participating in project activities related to statewide programs.

Provide leadership and direction to the Financial Team necessary to implement Federal-aid programs and projects and coordinates with the Financial Manager on communicating funding of federal-aid projects.

Lead a diverse staff comprised of engineers, a financial specialist, and provides leadership and direction necessary to implement Federal-aid programs and strategic goals for assigned program areas.

The

ideal candidate

is a mid-career engineer with broad working knowledge and experience monitoring federal-aid highway programs, effective communication, team building and interpersonal skills, and collaboration skills.
