- Serve as Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) for a designated work area within the medical treatment facility (MTF).
- Perform a wide range of complex PTA duties requiring an advanced practical knowledge of physical therapy, evidence-based medicine, and data collection to perform specific aspects of evaluations and interventions.
- Independently performs day-to-day duties with the supervisor providing general guidelines regarding the nature of therapeutic activities and the program in general.
- Provide updated status in patient progress reports, as well as other administrative reports.
- Initiate, implement, plan, and recommend progressive treatment plans.
- Provide instruction to patients, family members and/or other health workers to perform selected treatment procedures and functional training activities.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to make recommendations for the patient's rehabilitation and reintegration needs.
- Evaluate and recommend equipment changes in bracing, use of crutches, canes, and wheelchair accessories
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Background investigation will be conducted if selected.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements, to include having a current Physical Therapy Assistants (PTA) license.
- This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required
