    UMass Hillel is seeking a Facilities and Operations Manager (FOM) to join our dedicated staff time.

    In this position, you will play an important role within a mission-driven non-profit in support of a vibrant and multi-faceted student community.

    The FOM is a full-time position responsible for managing the Hillel building, property, and related operations.
    UMass Hillel is a team-oriented, collaborative, and flexible work environment.

    In addition to having the relevant work experience, the ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated, and have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a wide range of stakeholders including students, parents, vendors and organizational partners.

    The Hillel building is a multi-use facility with high traffic during the academic year, with staff offices, residential "dorm style" student living on the third floor, extensive programming, meetings, and events run by Hillel and student groups, and communal meals served on Friday nights, Saturdays, and Jewish holidays.

    The FOM will oversee day-to-day facilities use, maintenance and improvements, commercial kitchen operations, and manage the Hillel residence hall which consists of 13 dorm rooms, 1 RA suite, and a shared kitchenette.

    The FOM reports to the Director of Administration & Finance and works closely with other staff, as well as student leaders, to fulfill Hillel's mission and help students thrive.

    What you will do

    Jewish Living Community Residence (JLC)

    Manage the JLC application and leasing process to maximize dorm occupancy for the Fall and Spring terms each year, as well as "off-season" occupancy.

    Manage resident selection, move-in and move-out, roommate planning, keys, mailboxes, parking, and general maintenance of the dorm level of the building.

    Hire and supervise a qualified Resident Assistant to ensure smooth operation of the dorm.
    Address any residence hall problems in a timely fashion, including repairs, roommate challenges, security concerns or parking issues.
    Facilities Maintenance and Improvements

    Repairs:

    Oversee all facilities repair work, including hiring and managing vendors as needed and directly completing repairs as skills and time allow.


    Improvements:

    Work with supervisor to prioritize, research, and implement annual facilities improvement projects; act as a project manager to ensure successful project execution.


    Ongoing Maintenance:
    Manage routine maintenance needs including oversight of professional cleaning services, plowing and lawncare, inspections, and assorted seasonal upkeep.

    Facilities Upkeep:

    Maintain all areas of the Hillel building in a consistently neat and organized fashion through direct upkeep, management of cleaning company and student set-up staff, and communication and coordination with staff and student leaders.

    Manage and purchase supplies.

    Events & Program Support:

    Work with the Hillel program team to manage building-use requests and calendar; Coordinate and implement program and event needs and logistical support including space use, event and food setup and breakdown, AV materials, and security details as needed.

    Hillel purchases meals from UMass Dining that are heated and served out of the Hillel kitchen for Friday night dinners, Saturday lunches, and Jewish holidays in the fall.

    Additionally, the kitchen is used for some cooking programs.

    The FOM will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of meals service, including the potential implementation of new staffing models, as well as general oversight of kitchen access and use.

    Coordinate and oversee meals calendar
    Supervise student kitchen manager and staff, hiring as needed
    Work in concert with kitchen manager and UMass Dining to plan quantities, delivery schedule, meal choices for Shabbat and holiday meals, and special events
    Provide on-site supervision of some meals (frequency TBD)
    Ensure all food safety and kitchen operation requirements are maintained
    Manage kitchen access and policies, updating policies as needed
    What you bring

    3-6+ years of facilities and operations management and related experience
    A positive can-do attitude, drive for excellence, and ability to work well independently and with a team
    Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well with a wide range of constituents and organizational partners
    Fluency with Word, Excel, Dropbox, Google Docs, and other similar systems
    Desire to be part of a mission-driven organization and to help students thrive

    Competitive salary in the non-profit marketplace. The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000.
