Operations Planner (Fires)
Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii 

The Fires Operations Planner will be responsible for integrating and synchronizing all fires-related operations, including air, artillery, and precision strike systems, within joint, combined, and multinational military operations. This role will support the planning, coordination, collaboration, execution, and assessment of Fires and Effects capabilities, while maintaining a strategic and long-term planning focus in the Future Operations (FOPS) Branch of the G-3 Division. The primary objective of this support is to enhance readiness, collaboration, and overall effectiveness within the MARFORPAC staff, as well as with U.S. Pacific Fleet (PACFLT) and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM).
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and execute fires plans, ensuring the proper integration of artillery, air, and missile systems to support operational objectives.
  • Work closely with joint force components and multinational partners to synchronize fire support during operational planning.
  • Advise senior leaders on the best courses of action regarding precision fires and targeting strategies.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with fires execution, especially in complex environments.
  • Assess state of research resources and determine mission-critical gaps in understanding key public and communication priority topics.
EDUCATION
  • Master's degree. Will consider an additional 8 years' experience with a bachelor's degree OR 12 years' work experience may be substituted for a master's degree.
  • 10+ years of operations planning experience at MAJCOM, Combatant Command or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Marine Corps Planning Process and the Research, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation (RPIE) public planning process.
  • Five to 10 years of experience with USMC MAGTF Planning.
  • In-depth knowledge of operational planning, communication synchronization, service and joint doctrine, and Marine Corps componence issues.
  • Advanced proficiency with using Microsoft applications such as Excel, Teams, Words, Power Pt., etc.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the Pacific theater, and an understanding of the relationships and general interactions between each nation.
EXPERIENCE
  • Leveraged subject matter expertise in the integration and synchronization of strategic fires capabilities, including artillery, naval gunfire, and precision strike systems, within the USINDOPACOM Area of Operation (AO), optimizing operational effectiveness across all domains.
  • Led the development and execution of joint, combined, and multinational fires strategies to support USINDOPACOM objectives, ensuring seamless coordination of fires across diverse forces and operational environments.
  • Conducted detailed analysis and assessments of ongoing fires operations, identifying areas for improvement and recommending strategies to enhance interoperability and the effective use of air, ground, and maritime fires assets within the region.
  • Collaborated closely with senior staff and leadership at USINDOPACOM, U.S. Pacific Fleet (PACFLT), and MARFORPAC to align fires planning with broader theater and operational objectives, ensuring strategic goals were met.
  • Advised on strategic fires planning, ensuring alignment with USINDOPACOM's operational priorities and addressing evolving threats within the Indo-Pacific region through tailored fire support plans.
  • Developed and presented high-level reports, briefings, and assessments on fires and effects operations, recommending adjustments to tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) based on data-driven analysis of operational outcomes.
  • Mentored and trained junior and mid-level analysts, ensuring the continuity of fires operations and strengthening the team's overall capabilities in strategic fires planning and execution.
  • Led planning conferences, working groups, and seminars, contributing to the integration of fires across multi-domain operations and ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of USINDOPACOM and PACFLT.
  • Provided expert guidance in executing fires to counter multi-domain threats within the USINDOPACOM AO, addressing emerging challenges such as anti-access/area denial (A2/AD) capabilities and adversary precision-strike systems.

  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Expected to perform independently and exercise good judgement. 
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Travel may be required.
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required.
  • All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider
SECURITY CLEARANCE
  • A TS/SCI Clearance is required for this position.
ESTIMATED COMPENSATION
  • $120,000 - $160,000.00
