Description
InnophosEnvironmental, Health and Safety Specialist Riverdale, IL 60827Provide Safety Health and Environmental leadership and training to ensure continuous improvement in EHS performance. This is primarily a support role working under the site EHS Manager. Assisting with the administration of compliance programs, procedures, and policies. This role may also act as a liaison with regulatory agencies when necessary.
The main location for this role is the Chicago facility, coverage for the Chicago Heights facility will be required as necessary.
Work performed will be in a manufacturing of specialty ingredients setting which may be both an indoor and outdoor setting.
All work in the manufacturing environment requires use of protective clothing and personal devices:safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, goggles, insulated gloves, safety vest, harness, hair net, beard net and may include the use of a full-body coverall and respiratory protection.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupportive role providing Health, Safety and Environmental direction, leadership, and training to ensure continuous improvement in EHS performance
Contribute to and support compliance programs, procedures, and policies and acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies when necessary
Support all health, safety, and environmental programs, including developing, writing, implementing, auditing, and maintaining policies and procedures in compliance with company, local, state and federal rules and regulations
Provide training to employees in all subjects related to Health, Safety and Environmental programs and policies
Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations including recordkeeping
Active participation in weekly safety meetings
Performs inspections for potential EHS risks, determines corrective or preventive measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
Major contributor during Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigation of incidents, injuries, and near misses and drives action items to closure
Assists with implementation and compliance for all environmental programs
Assists with management of Workers Compensation claims
Supportive role following PSM Practices such as Employee Safety Committee Participation, Mechanical Integrity Reviews, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Review and includes the extensive use of an EHS Management System
Performs routine job skills analysis and task assessments
Demonstrates commitment to safety
Some evening or weekend work may be required
RequiredEducation and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree preferred in Health, Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or other technical discipline
3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role at a manufacturing location, preferably in the chemical or food industry
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of OSHA and USEPA regulatory matters covering industrial chemical process operations
Strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, including the ability to train
Working knowledgerelated to the usage of MS Office software like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Environmental and/or PhysicalRequirements
