- Recommend the hiring, retention, orientation, professional development, discipline and/or dismissal of all nursing faculty (instructors and clinicians, credit and non-credit) or other nursing staff.
- Work with all nursing faculty to monitor Quality Faculty Plan progress, identifying professional development opportunities, and conducting formal performance evaluations on an annual basis.
- Operate within the parameters of current collective bargaining agreements.
- Hold nursing departmental meetings to keep faculty informed and to conduct business.
- Recommend nursing class schedules, teaching loads, and room utilization schedules.
- Monitor enrollments and implement recruitment and retention programs within nursing.
- Conduct academic program evaluations with faculty as required by the academic program review protocol.
- Implement and monitor the outcomes assessment program of the college through development of learning outcomes, appropriate strategies, and feedback to evaluate student learning and ensure academic excellence and integrity of all nursing programs.
- Coordinate with the Healthcare Clinical Coordinator to interview, hire, and evaluate nursing clinical instructors; arrange contracts for use of clinical facilities; conduct annual evaluations of clinical sites; coordinate students in clinical areas.
- Oversee the nursing preceptors and preceptor sites with area health care agencies.
- Develop and expand articulation and/or cooperative agreements with secondary institutions, post-secondary institutions, business, and industry.
- Cooperate with Student Services personnel in support of student recruitment, guidance, placement, and student follow-up; facilitate promotional and recruitment activities for the nursing programs (e.g., career fairs, program recruitment letters).
- Establish and maintain ongoing partnerships with area health care agencies.
- Assure the functioning of an effective nursing program advisory committee, making sure to schedule and conduct nursing program advisory committee meetings at least twice a year, more if needed.
- Recommend and administer nursing program budgets; facilitate the selection of instructional supplies and equipment.
- Review and update nursing student handbooks annually in cooperation with faculty.
- Provide appropriate student and staff orientation activities for nursing programs.
- Coordinate the collection of necessary materials for college catalog revisions.
- Maintain Iowa Board of Nursing approval; complete and submit all required Iowa Board of Nursing reports.
- Secure substitute instructors in nursing courses, as needed.
- Evaluate and revise nursing program curricula, as necessary.
- Review all course syllabi and textbooks annually with nursing faculty.
- Coordinate peer review evaluations for nursing faculty.
- Participates in the evaluation of nursing students, as needed.
- Instruct classroom and clinical nursing courses.
- Assist in coordinating the work for nursing CEUs.
- Work with the Intermediary, and represent NCC to the community as directed.
- Serve on the health care sector board as directed.
- Research, propose, and develop new nursing programs or offerings as directed.
- Work with nursing program faculty to acquire and maintain program accreditation(s) as directed.
- Perform directed role in student grievance procedures.
- Participate in student grievance procedures as directed.
- Attend scheduled college staff meetings.
- Participate in the long and short range planning of the college.
- Serve on and provide leadership to college committees as appropriate.
- Identify and recommend actions for process improvements.
- Actively participate in state and national organizations as appropriate to division programs and/or college initiatives.
- Maintain division standards consistent with NCC Board policy, the Department of Education, HLC, and other accreditation bodies.
- Participate in appropriate quality faculty plan and staff development activities.
- Prepare reports for the administration, and federal, state, and local agencies as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Full-time, 9-month (195-day) contract with optional additional supplemental days during the summer term. Responsible for the oversight of all nursing and nursing-related programs. This includes the direct administration of the practical nursing, the associate degree nursing, and nursing CEU's.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required - Master's degree with a major in nursing, or proof of current progress toward a Master's Degree.
Two years of experience in the clinical setting.
Two years of experience in nursing education.
Meets all guidelines specified in Iowa Code Chapter 2 (Nursing Education Programs).
Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Iowa or under the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Basic computer skills.
Preferred - Bilingual in English and Spanish languages.
Doctorate in relevant field.
Higher education academic administrative experience.
Copies of all academic transcripts are required. Unofficial copies are acceptable at the time of application. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment, a complete set of original transcripts will be required.
