- Full oversight of perioperative service operations including staffing and scheduling of staff members, maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Ensure completeness of bookings for all procedures that fall within Perioperative services.
- Monthly utilization analysis, along with recommendation for block allocation and reallocation based on utilization data.
- Assess, plan, evaluate, and implement programs and standards that support positive patient care outcomes.
- Recruits, interviews, and hires competent candidates for open positions.
- Facilitates the budget for Perioperative services, including estimates of future personnel, equipment needs, and ensures that hospital resources are optimally utilized through participating in strategic planning and financial budgeting process.
- Develop and maintain strategies to provide cost-effective quality care.
- Provides coaching, mentoring, support, and consultation to managers, colleagues, and staff.
- Recommends and/or develops new programs and services to meet populations served.
- Collaborates with Administration and physicians to identify future opportunities and defines the direction of the Perioperative services; develops and implements plans to achieve identified goals, including OR efficiency, productivity and patient throughput targets across the perioperative continuum.
- Maintains an ongoing departmental quality improvement plan and process consistent with the organizational quality management plan.
- Develops and implements unit specific standards; policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of care and services; continuously assesses and improves assigned departments' performance while enhancing service.
- Participates and/or chairs committees, work groups, and meetings as appropriate.
- Participates in strategy planning as related to patient care.
- Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care which includes DNV, CMS, IHI, CAP, etc. Utilizes results from 'tracer' methodology tools to develop corrective action plans to ensure that quality of care is embedded into clinical practice on an ongoing basis
- 7+ years of leadership experience in a Perioperative Setting
- Bachelors' Degree required; Masters' Degree preferred
- Must maintain a valid NYS Registered Nurse License

Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.
